Associate Wealth Planner

The WealthCo Group of Companies (“WealthCo”) is currently looking for an enthusiastic, engaged full time Associate Wealth Planner who will be an exceptional addition to our head office in Calgary, Alberta.

The key focus of an Associate Wealth Planner at WealthCo is to support advisors and planners and assist the team in developing and implementing financial plans for individuals, business owners and corporate executives and professionals.

You will support the company’s goals through these key accountabilities:

  • Responsible to adhere to all compliance and regulatory requirements as set out by the firm and other regulatory bodies.
  • Preparation of financial plans including assets, liabilities, cash flow, insurance, tax information, and financial objectives.
  • Responsible for follow up and scheduling of client meetings.
  • Accountability for implementation of financial plans including required paperwork.
  • Collaborate with and support Integrated Advisory Network members experience.
  • Effective communication between clients and other professionals (i.e., accountants, internal team).
  • Act as a liaison between clients & advisors; ensuring effective. communication between clients and other professionals (i.e., accountants, internal team).
  • Attend client’s meetings and document actions and notes.
  • Support the team in utilizing and maintaining CRM.
  • Utilize and Maintain data via our Customer Relationship Management databases. Use the processes and systems available.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Successful candidates will require:

  • College/University Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in accounting, tax, financial planning or financial services.
  • CPA, CFP or QAFP designation considered an asset.
  • Proactive – you take the initiative to ask, learn, and make things happen.
  • Ability to handle multiple project and requests, prioritize, and respond quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong client service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.

Investment Operations Manager

WealthCo is currently looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Investment Operations Manager who will be an exceptional addition to our head offices in Calgary, Alberta.

The key focus of an Investment Operations Manager is tocontinually enhance the core operating environment to meet the evolving business demands. This position is responsible for leading a team of Portfolio Administrators in the delivery of superior service and operational support to our advisors and their clients, ensuring that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. This role includes both the managerial and administrative functions; responsible for managing the workflow for the Portfolio Administrators, while also performing the same functions as the Administrators. The Manager reports to and works closely with the Chief Operating Officer to minimize reputational risk, and to implement risk and compliance mitigation strategies and programs, regulatory monitoring and the execution of exceptional client onboarding and ongoing client service.

You will support the company’s goals through these key accountabilities:

  • Responsible to ensure investment-related activities are executed properly and provide exceptional reporting to stakeholders
  • Oversight of the investment operations process to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the efficient execution of investment strategies
  • Lead key activities and projects such as process re-engineering, management reporting, custodian management, internal controls, and compliance
  • Full-cycle performance management of a small team including fostering a positive, collaborative and productive work environment, ensuring team members are following policies and procedures and service standards are being met
  • Provide subject matter expertise and execution support to business driven initiatives, internal partners, leadership or projects related to operations as necessary
  • Promotes the firm’s brand, story and capabilities to internal and external audiences
  • Reviewing processes/providing recommendations to improve the client experience and enhance efficiencies; escalating and resolving any processing concerns or delays with service partners

Successful candidates will require:

  • University Degree (Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance) or equivalent related experience
  • 8-10 years operations management experience within the wealth management industry
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course
  • Presents a professional and polished image at all times
  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience in working with back-office systems an asset

Technology Lead

WealthCo is currently looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Technology Lead who will be an exceptional addition to our head offices in Calgary, Alberta.

The key focus of a Technology Lead is to support WealthCo’s technology footprint which includes fintech applications, cloud storage, backups, data lake and more. You will foster strong working relationships with both our internal team and external providers and leverage your expertise to optimize internal processes, drive efficiencies, and deliver operational excellence. The Technology Lead reports into the COO.

You will support the company’s goals through these key accountabilities:

Planning and implementation, remediation, modernization or decommissioning of critical systems

  • Responsible for enterprise systems architecture, including design changes, providing expertise on architectural proposals and ensuring alignment and proper implementation of solutions
  • Assist the COO with business unit management including tactical planning, roadmaps, capacity and demand measurements, resource and budget planning
  • Review and modernize WealthCo IT hardware and software solutions
  • Oversee contracted technology services by providing direction, guidance and feedback, and ensuring contractor time accuracy
  • Act as a Project Coordinator by coordinating schedules, tasks, and other relevant data and reporting the delivery and progress of such projects to the Chief Operating Officer (COO)
  • Provide mentorship to the WealthCo team through informal feedback, guidance, and encouragement of professional development and collaboration
  • Development and manage relationships with vendors, partners, tenants, internal business units and other relevant external parties

Successful candidates will require:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with IT computer infrastructure including servers (both physical and virtual), storage, cloud, backup systems, and access management systems (such as Active Directory), servers, physical devices and peripherals.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience will be considered (5-8 years Information Technology work experience dependent upon industry and specialization)
  • Extensive experience in software architecture, design and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies and key backend supporting services on premise and cloud (Azure). 
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as IT systems architecture, lifecycle management, business process analyses, workshop facilitation, requirements gathering, workflow automation and integration practices.
  • Strong understanding of highly available environments, clustering technology, load balancing, data centers (on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments), and virtualization technologies
  • Experience working in complex 24/7/365 enterprise business environments. 
  • Proven experience as a technology subject matter expert, having successfully delivered numerous projects to an operational state leveraging Agile project delivery methodologies.

Investment Administrator

The key focus of an Investment Administrator is to provide proactive analytical and operational investment support to the WealthCo Asset Management Team. You will foster strong working relationships with both our internal team and external providers and leverage your technical skills to optimize internal processes, drive efficiencies, and deliver operational excellence with an emphasis on accuracy, reliability, and improvement. The Investment Administrator will execute trades with respect to both client-level and institutional pool-level accounts, support our Fund Accounting team by assessing and interpreting financial statements and related transactions as well as perform financial reporting, forecasting and planning, and other fund administration duties related to WealthCo’s institutional pooled funds and client accounts.

You will support the company’s goals through these key accountabilities:

  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial summaries of the investment pools
  • Coordinate materials for committee meetings
  • Use discretion and judgment to elevate critical news /reports or time sensitive information to the Chief Investment Officer
  • Prepare and support monthly performance analysis of WealthCo’s pooled funds.
  • Responsible to assemble and summarize data; prepare reports; make presentations of findings
  • Updating fund facts and pooled fund performance on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Conduct research and comparable analysis as necessary in support of key business metrics and objectives
  • Maintain and enhance existing documentation and procedures
  • Assess investment partner statements and other transactions to determine impacts on investment income, market values, and book values
  • Update client administration systems to reflect changes in the value of underlying investments
  • Ensure that pricing of underlying securities is accurate and up to date
  • Active communication with WealthCo’s fund custodian to ensure our records match
  • Support the Fund Accounting Team in the annual pool audit process by gathering and providing appropriate data as required.
  • Determine and execute client-level trades driven by new contributions and cash requirements
  • Rebalance client-level accounts on a quarterly basis based on client investment policy targets
  • Execute and manage fund-level trades to buy and sell securities at the direction of the Chief Investment Officer
  • Administer and reconcile fund-level trades as required
  • Assist in administration and auditing of fund compliance programs

Successful candidates will require:

  • A university degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance
  • 1-3 years of progressive experience in an investment administration role in a fast-paced environment
  • The capability of prioritizing and managing many projects and adhering to tight deadlines
  • A good understanding of business fundamentals and growing financial acumen
  • Intermediate/Advanced excel skills with the ability to efficiently handle large data sets
  • Strategic mind-set who can drive business initiatives and deliver insights
