One step closer to Olympic gold in PyeongChang
… and one huge “Congratulations!” to Elizabeth Vathje!
We knew we had met a winner when we first spoke to Calgary native and competitive Skeleton racer, Elizabeth Vathje. Now the world knows it.
“It was love at first slide,” says Vathje after having her first taste of skeleton at age 14. Now in her 20s, and with a recent bronze medal success at the World Cup, she has officially secured her place as one of six qualifiers for the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang.
This third place win at the World Cup in St. Moritz on January 12th marks Vathje’s fourth World Cup medal of her impressive 2017-18 Olympic season that includes three silver wins (Lake Placid, Winterberg, Igls).
She is now approaching the 2018 Olympics ranked second on the overall World Cup circuit, sitting behind German reigning World Champion Jacqueline Loelling, with only one competition remaining.
WealthCo is proud to be partnered with the young athlete in her quest towards Olympic gold in South Korea. We have repeatedly committed ourselves to supporting the future leaders of our community – Vathje being a leading example of the embodiment of passion and dedication it takes to reach the top.
We will definitely be watching as Elizabeth Vathje continues her ascent towards greater heights and faster slide times in the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from February 9-25, 2018.
Team Vathje is a Team Effort and it requires a special kind of alchemy to help turn Olympic dreams into gold. Now more than ever, Canadian Olympic hopefuls like Elisabeth need the support of their communities. Funding has been decreased moving towards the 2018 Winter Olympics, with Skeleton taking a significant cut at 80%. Through your support, Elizabeth is able to keep her eyes on the prize and represent Canada on the international podium.
We have partnered with Play4Them, a “fun-raising” platform that makes giving even easier and enables you to “make a difference by having fun!” Donate today to help us get Elisabeth Vathje closer to her goals at the 2018 Olympics in South Korea: www.play4them.com
